After I got back from Maryland - we celebrated in style with a Groupon from Yumz! Frozen yogurt for all! I also created a few what I deemed "sanity" lists. The kids were in charge of heading down each morning and looking at their lists. Then it wasn't mom being the naggy bad guy, I would just say - sorry we can't do "X" because it looks like you haven't completed your jobs for the day. It has almost become habit at this point and I would consider it game changing!!!
