First foster

After the loss of my 17 year old first born (rylee-Jack Russell terrier) we’ve been exploring the idea of fostering a dog. I stated the approval process without realizing how fast it moved! After the home visit they said, okay we have 40 dogs coming next week can you help?

The foster organization I work with saves dogs from kill shelters in Oklahoma. And this was their largest transport! I was going out of town both for spring break and for a long weekend to Arizona. It wasn’t a good time to take in foster. But I did agree to meet the transport and watch three German Shepard mix puppies for a few days...what was I thinking?!?!

We rolled up the carpets and blocked off the stairs. They were crazy from being cooped up all day and didn’t like the snow. It was pure insanity. The kids each picked one and named it. Luckily a foster mom cane and got the two boys late that first night. The girl was so timid and sweet...we all fell in love with her. It was hard to give her up, but very much liked having my house tidy again! I think we’ll stick to one at a time going forward 😉
