Roadtrip Heading Home

We hustled day 9 because the goal was to get through half of arches and then make it to Idaho Falls by bedtime.

We were excited because the Arch that is on all the license plates was on today's agenda! Little did we know that in order to get close enough to see it you have to hike about 5 miles....so we looked at it, unimpressively from way below. We also had our first and only hiking incident...walking down stairs! Grayson was running and climbing on everything - as little boys do, and his feet got out from under him. I headed back to the car and bandaged him up (yay for fruit snacks and first aid kits!) It was a beautiful day and we got up close to one of the biggest arches in the park, really cool!

The rest of the day was moving watching and snacking and just trying to push through to Idaho! We met up with Megan and she continued on to Menan with mom and we made it to dads in time for dinner and early bedtime!

Our Idaho visit was filled with cousins and food. Grandpa Bob taught the kids about radiation, we went to tauphus park and rode the same rides I did when I was little...a little frightening! We played mini golf and saw the Idaho Falls parade. Then we went to Menan and saw that parade, went to the carnival, ate and played ping pong, giant jenga and foosball. We stayed for fireworks and then got up at the crack of dawn the next day to head home!

We stayed overnight one last time at a hotel and then were homeward bound! I am so grateful that we had the opportunity to do this! I hope every summer to be able to explore some national parks with my kiddos...I want them to love nature the way that I do and becoming advocates for the environment!!
